Best Survival Tip by Ranulph Fiennes

"When you're innocently walking down the street and you hear the noise of men who have drunk too much coming toward you, cross to the other side."

Ranulph Fiennes - British adventurer, 65, was the first man to reach both the North and South poles by land.

Taylor Swift Performs at Bishop Ireton HS

This is really a big deal.

Verizon had a nation wide High School contest with the winner having a concert by upcoming Mega Star Taylor Swift. Little Bishop Ireton beat out the rest of the schools in the country to win todays concert. As you can image the Mangoettes who attend BI are out of control today.

Having the fastest thumbs let BI win as the contest had to do with texting over the Verizon network.

PIx here of Taylor with my buddy Tony Hanagan.

Note: Although the whole school, including teachers and staff participated in making this concert happen, there is always someone who gets the ball moving, credit is given to sophmore Arthur Stier, a huge fan, who primed the pump by a huge school wide promotion.

Everyone knows Carmen Carreno, so we thought we would let her have a little fun behind the bar for a good cause. Carmen (under the watchful eye of Andres) tended bar Wednesday night with a portion of her sales going to the March of Dimes. It was a fun night, good work Carmen.

Longtime member of the Mango Mikes Staff Teddy just reached the 21 yr milestone. Ted started at the host stand and food running and moved his way up to server. Ted it is hard to believe you're a legal drinker.

Above is a photo of Ted enjoying his first legal beer at the Island bar, served to him by Andres of course.

Happy Birthday Teddy!

The Absolut Mango Girls stopped by Mango's in Alexandria to buy some samples of the new Absolut Mango flavored Vodka. Good stuff and our Bar Guests are always happy with a few free t-shirts. Here is a Picture of the Absolut Mango Girls with their favorite bar back (and our favorite utility employee) OSCAR.

You are the man Oscar!!

Blue Surf ReBorn

Those of you that remember the Blue Surf Motel across the way from Mango's certainly miss the place. Having been demolished in 2007.

Now a new Blue Surf, the condo and retail complex is arising from it's spot.

I hear they are going to be ready for the season.

Mango's Bethany Beach is now open on the weekends, stop in and say hi to Tom, Alex, Chelsea and the staff.

Needed in Old Town?

From Uber Review:

While public urination might be an incredibly liberating experience, it is against the law and it does turn otherwise pleasant streets into festering stinkpits that regular folks like to avoid. This is presumably the reason that the Urilift was constructed in Reading (for a grand total of $100,000). Throughout the day, the Urilift goes unnoticed beneath the feet of passing pedestrians, but between the hours of 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. it springs into action, saving the streets of Reading from drunken micturition.

Squeeze Bacon

This just showed up this morning on Think Geek's website. Considering it's April 1st you may want to take this with a grain of salt.

From the website:

A few years after WWII ended, a young man working in a small restaurant in Sweden developed a new way to process bacon. By precooking it and blending it in a special way, he was able to make a fully cooked 100% bacon paste that could be squeezed from a tube. Knowing he had discovered something paradigm-shifting, young Vilhelm Lillefläsk quickly went into business. That, dear friends, is when Squeez Bacon® was born. And this delicious delectable from Sweden has finally been brought over to the USA - now with American Flavor!

We've been working for months now with Vilhelm Lillefläsk (yes, he still runs the company!) to bring Squeez Bacon® here, and boy are we proud. Why? Because Squeez Bacon® is simply the tastiest bacon food product ever made. Did you know that it's rumored ABBA met while eating Squeez Bacon® sandwiches? And even IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad (we've heard) never travels without a case! He loves it on his American style meatballs. Ojojoj!

Vilhelm Lillefläsk's Squeez Bacon® is fully cooked 100% bacon. Due to the patented electro-mechanical process by which Squeez Bacon® is rendered, it requires no preservatives or other additives. Each serving is as healthy as real bacon, and equivalent to 4 premium slices of bacon! You can put it on sandwiches, pizza, pastas, bacon, soups, pies, eat it hot or cold (warm Squeez Bacon® on toasted rye is to die for), substitute it for bacon in your recipes, or even eat it right out of the tube like we do! If it's edible, it's better with Squeez Bacon®. In the immortal words of Vilhelm Lillefläsk, "Aldrig kommer att ge dig upp!" Once you get a taste of Squeez Bacon®, you'll know exactly what he meant.
