New Beach for Bethany
Our beaches are being expanded. According to the Delaware Dept. of Natural Resources, the project is adding 3.4 million cubic yards of offshore sand to the beach, which will extend the beach a 150' out onto the ocean. One of the concerns, by residents, have been the new "dune" added to the beach adjacent to the boardwalk. This dune which measures 16' in pretty daunting. Officials have informed us that over time, wind and storms will reduce the height of this dune and it's protective qualities will be needed in case of bad storms (read hurricanes) in the future.
