Johnny Rockets
We were down in Myrtle Beach visiting the In-Laws and decided we had our fill of turkey left overs so we headed to Johnny Rockets at Broadway at the Beach for burgers Saturday night. Had a great time and a pretty decent meal, especially for the price.
(Although I think the burgers at Ramparts are much better).
Good Manners
We've tried to teach our children well. But as a parent you can only do so much when it comes to table manners.
Dancin'
To entertain you during dinner the staff does their thing to some of the more popular tunes from the 50's. I mentioned this to the Mango's staff as part of their dinner service, but I didn't get very far.
Fireworks
As an added bonus, just as our dinner was served, the barge pulled up right in front of the restaurant for a 15 minute firework show. It just about rivaled the Bethany 4th of July display.
Mojito Squeezer
One of our more popular drinks at Mango's can be enjoyed at home. But you'll need a lot of fresh squeezed limes to keep your guests happy. DO NOT USE Roses lime juice in any drink that calls for fresh lime.

Mojito Recipe
3 fresh mint sprigs
2 tsp sugar
3 tbsp fresh lime juice
1 1/2 oz light rum
club soda
In a tall thin glass, crush part of the mint with a fork to coat the inside. Add the sugar and lime juice and stir thoroughly. Top with ice. Add rum and mix. Top off with *chilled* club soda (or seltzer). Add a lime slice and the remaining mint, and serve.
Blue Surf is Raised
The Blue Surf Motel, an icon in Bethany Beach is GONE. The McCabe's, owners of the Blue Surf, decided it was time to move on. The Hotel, which I'm guessing has been there since the 50's, will be replaced by condos (in the million dollar range) and some retails shops on the back side.
We will definetly miss this attraction.

End of an Era
Many a Mango's customer has graced the rooms of the Blue Surf.
Bishop Ireton Football Plays for the State Title
For the first time in the History of Bishop Ireton they're playing for the State Football Championship for Virginia Independent Schools, Division 1.
The game was held at Lynchburg's Liberty University's Williams Stadium against the undefeated LSA Lynchburg Christian Academy.
Although this was their home field, we had more fans and students attending the game.
Bus Trip to Lynchburg
Mangoette Chelsea, Liz and the Dom Squad board the bus for the trip to the Championship game.
Dom Squad
All season these guys have been the personal cheerleaders for player Dominick Puglise. They are nuts. It was 28 degrees at game time in Lynchburg and they insisted on being shirtless for the whole game. Now that's spirit or maybe just a bit of insanity.

Great Team, Great Season
Although the final score was 14 - 35, it didn't really reflect the spirit and effort put forth by this and team and their great season, a record for the school. Special thanks to coach Anthony Verducci and his coaching staff for a terrific job with this team.

A Good Friend
We were in a tough position at Mango's being short a manager after downtown Chip had headed back to DC to run Wonderland. So longtime friend, high school and college buddy, Bill Damman ventured out from the cold state of Michigan to give us a hand for six weeks. Not only did he perform on all his nighttime managerial shifts, but he also came in days to help us with a cornucopia of projects like the new fishtanks and a host of kitchen projects.
Bill, the entire staff appreciates your help and we'll see you at the Staff Blow Out Christmas Party.

Captain Morgan Visits Mango's
Blasted into Mango's the other night with a horde of Pirate girls to promote their Rum. Customers enjoyed the Captain along with his handouts of free t-shirts, but no Pirate girls. Sorry Matey.

Chelsea celebrated this milestone at Simply Fish with 130 of her most favorite friends. From a parents standpoint it actually turned out to be a pretty good party and not a single knife fight.
