Girl Scouts Visit Mango Mike's

Troop 3437 from Blessed Sacrament School visited us last week in the hopes of learning more about the restaurant business, as they have an upcoming restaurant project.

We had a nice chat with ladies, including a complete tour of the facilities. We just made them promise not to open a joint next to Mango's.

Thanks for the visit.

Tropical Ice Breaker at the Beach

As reported in a previous post by Alex, here are some photos from the Parrot Head event.

Normally we're closed this time of year, but we'll always open for the Parrot Heads.

Parrot Head Event

Just because it's winter time at the Beach....doesn't mean we aren't having fun! The Lewes Parrot Heads fittingly held their local fundraiser at Mango's this past weekend. We had a great turnout of about 150 people, and it was a perfect opportunity to show off some of our winter bar improvements. The fundraiser was a huge success, and I am working with the regional Parrot Head Chapter to hold their Spring event in May. We flew through Coronas, Land Sharks, and Mango Margaritas like it was a regular summer day! The Parrot Heads partied straight through the night while enjoying live music from Jimmy and the Parrots, a headlining Jimmy Buffet cover band. They were awesome! For any information on holding a fundraiser, wedding reception, rehearsal dinner, or any private function...Contact Alex at hido80@GMAIL.COM or call 202.302.2325.

A Nice Bath

Since Mango Mikes went smoke free, the staff has been hard at work all week scrubbing, painting and replacing all parts of the once smoke filled Island Bar area.  We covered all electronic and water sensitive equipment, and power washed the joint.  Mark replaced the carpet in the Banana Lounge and gave it a fresh paint job.  Still much more to come,  but the place already has a distinctly new feel.  Dozens of guests have told me how great it is, to not come home reeking of smoke.

Verticle Ice Tray

Looking for something different.

Ice Orb

Just add a little water to the flexible ice cube orb, then place the blue bucket inside to hold the water in the pockets.

You won’t drip water on the floor on the way to the freezer like with twistable plastic ice cube trays.

Or keep the cubes and bucket in place and use to keep a bottle of wine or dip chilled at the table.

The Boom Room

I was going to build a martini bar above Simply Fish, but never quite finished that project. And I had all the furniture in storage so we decided to convert the downstairs room at the house into a teenage lounge, which the mangoettes aptly named The Boom Room.

We had the ribbon cutting ceremony last week with Mangoette Chelsea and fellow BI'ers Michael Barber, Just Plain Sam, and Cabana Cam Ellis in attendance.

Chamber of Commerce Gala

Every year the Chamber has a black tie gala to induct the new Chairman, this year it is Cathy Puskar. The theme was Motown so the music was great and I took a group down in the Mango camper to the Hilton Mark Center for the festivities.

Note former TC Williams Principle John Porter on the far right, he's always welomed aboard the Mango camper.

Pix here of Fred Parker from Hard Times Cafe dancing with the singer from the band.

Marcy Anderson, new Chairwoman, of the SBDC (Small Business Development Center, with director Bill Reagan.
