By Scotsman, makers of Ice Machines, will fill 10 pints in 10 seconds. That's about as fast as Chucho on Latino night.
The system works using a special cup, which allows drinks to be filled from the bottom rather than the top. For drinks that require ice, an added ice dispenser dumps cubes in from the top while the drink is being filled from the bottom. According to the company, fast pour times with almost no spill mean that the Trufill could end up saving 75 percent to 80 percent on labor costs. Though judging by how much the price of beer goes at FedEx Field, I doubt that'll ever translate onto the consumer's receipts.

Ex-Mango Corey
Many of you may remember ex mango bartender Corey, well I am glad to report that he is doing great. He and his wife Jo have two young daughters and are living the good life out in Fairfax. Bartender Brian and I recently went out to visit him at PF Changs in Fair Oaks, where he now manages their operation, (picture from our tour of the kitchen.) If you are in his neighborhood make sure to stop by and say hello.
The three of us were the Sat night Bar staff around 2003-2006. (We had some good times, good thing the walls don't talk) It is funny how Corey (far right) used to be the fat one. Now Brian (left) and I (middle) are the chubby ones.

Halloween in Old Town
For the last couple of years Alexandria Police have restricted vehicular traffic on Lee Street from King Street south for about 4 blocks.
All the neighbors along this stretch open their homes and the street becomes a huge Mardi Gras type party. Families, singles, couples all get dressed up and hit Lee Street. This is our first year and it was a blast.
The Stock Market guy didn't look to festive.

Ken Lopez and lovely wife were a huge show stopper when they showed up with their new Triplets. That would make any father head for an early grave.
The Monster with the big hands was a mystery to everyone, until we found out later it was Mark Warner. I guess he figured he had the election in the bag at that point and was going to have some fun Election weekend. Not a Warner for Senate poster in sight.

Halloween Parties
We had two Great Halloween Parties at Mango Mike's Alexandria. The First, a Latin Salsa Theme Costume Party on Halloween Eve and the Second our annual Traditional Halloween costume Party on the Actual Halloween Day. We had a great turnout and both parties had a larger % of costumes than any Halloween Party in the past, great costumes this year, which made the costume contest judging very difficult. Here are a few pics.
